Unable to start any VM since upgrading from 4.2.14 to 4.2.16

I've searched the forums for keywords relating to my error but found nothing, so I'm posting my issue here.

Yesterday I updgraded from 4.2.14 to 4.2.16 and since them none of my VM's will start, all give this error:

- Failed to load VMMR0.ro (VERR_LDR_MISMATCH_NATIVE)

- Details:
Result Code:
E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component:
Console
Interface:
IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}

So I uninstalled 4.2.16, rebooted when asked, and reinstalled 4.2.14, recreated my VM using the 'Use existing disk' option, but still I get the same image.

So I uninstalled again, but after rebooting I went through the file system and manually removed everything related, \Program Files\Oracle, %APPDATA%\.VBOX, etc. and through the registry manually removing relevant entries before installing 4.2.16 again, but still same error.

Any thoughts people?

Did you also update the ExtPack?

Thanks to this post: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=34542&p=261721#p261721

my issue is now resolved - it turns out I have Driver Verifier running on my system, disabling this and rebooting resolve my problem

I also had a hard time while upgrading from 4.0.10 to 4.2.16:

virtualbox failed to load vmmr0.r0 (verr_ldr_mismatch_native)

The solution for Windows Vista as host was to remove the folder

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Oracle

I hope it works for you too

Hi

To complement my information, this solution to remove the folder

C:\Users\USERNAME\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Oracle

was suggested in

viewtopic.php?f=6&t=34542

Also see

http://engineernabendu.blogspot.com.br/ ... issue.html

that suggests a specific file instead of a whole folder.

Did work for me.
