Possible to pass a hot-key through to Host?

Hi all.
As you all know, when operating full screen, most all keyboard and mouse operations are captured by Virtual Box. What I'd like to know is whether or not there is a way to pass a given hot-key combination through to the Host OS?
For instance, I'm trying to do a screen recording inside the virtual machine, however, the commands to start, stop, and pause the recorder are captured by the Virtual OS. I'd like them to be passed through to the Host OS instead.
An example of a key combination that IS successfully passed through to the Host OS (even when virtualized in full screen), is Control-Alt-Delete, therefore, if you want to invoke a Ctrl-Alt-Del INSIDE the virtual OS, Virtual Box has assigned the "host key + Del".
Is what I'd like to do possible? The keys I need most right now are F9 and F10, but will need key combinations later as well.
Any help from you guys would be most appreciated.
