Re: parent folder doesn't exist
Something weird is triggering the low battery warning. I shut down windows and rebooted. Same warning.

Re: parent folder doesn't exist
Haven't really used windows in several years. I looked in accessories\system tools\ but I didn't find a battery program. Found it in control panel. anyway, that shows correct info.
Thanks very much for all your help. I don't know where you are, but it's very late in NY. I'm checking out and going to bed.

You're Welcome
edit: btw, you should go through all your posts and mark them as (Solved). edit the Title in the first message of each.
re-edit: don't forget to install the guest additions and extension pack to match your version of VB which I assume is 4.2.16

Re: parent folder doesn't exist
You must be kidding -- every single post?
btw, I assigned the guest 2 gb memory. I can still increase that, right? I opened windows and ran out of memory. The memory that I assign to the guest-- is that forever gone from the host? Or does it become available to the guest only when VB is running?

Re: parent folder doesn't exist
not each post. just the first on each thread. there's something like 4 or 5.
yes, the memory is only used while the guest is running. I'm not sure why you would run out of memory though. 2048 MB should be plenty for Windows XP.

Re: parent folder doesn't exist
That's what I tbought. once for each post.
On my old computer, there's 4 gb and I give 2 gb to VB. Yet it tells me that there's no memory left. Activity Monitor confirms that is the case in host as well. When I shut Quicken and Windows down, most of the memory for VB is restored.

Re: parent folder doesn't exist
that's odd because for about three years I had a real windows pc with only 512MB and eventually 1024MB and I never had an out of memory message.

Re: parent folder doesn't exist
I have to run but as far as issues with Windows XP that's not a VirtualBox issue and you'll have to do some searching online for out of memory errors etc.
