Yeah, that's what I do, unless my attention is somewhere else.
After force quitting and restarting VB, everything looks normal.
I restarted windows and a gparted screen came up. Then a fast-scrolling black screen with white text rolled by. Now Configuring console-data is waiting for an OK. Policy for handling keycaps is waiting for a choice from 4 options. "Don't touch keycap" is selected.

BTW, you were right about the missing GBs coming back after shutting down. I reset the drivers and now everything's much better.

Left: /devs/sda1 (or /devs/sdal)
9.99 GiB
right: grey. unallocated 10.01 GiB outlined with dotted line

okay click on the white, select partitions from the menu, resize/move, then drag the arrow to the right until the gray is gone.

click apply, wait for it to finish. once it's done, quit gparted. remove the .iso from Storage, and restart the windows guest.

the storage tree shows the CD as empty. The last instruction on the Terminal-like is to remove the disk, but it's already gone.

At the sign-in window of Windows, there's a low battery warning, but I'm plugged in and fully charged. ?? I clicked OK and another warning: Critical Battery: switch to outlet power immediately!

I have no idea what that is. A virtualmachine doesn't use batteries
