First off let me apologize for any miss giving's... Here I go
I have Win7 OS and am a college student. My instructor is wanting us to do batch files and other manipulations in DOS. My Win7 will not give me the same screen shots as in my book for class. I was told to set up a virtual machine on my computer and run either DOS 6.22 or FreeDOS for all my class work.

Can anyone help me with this and explain it to me? FYI- this is the first computer class that I did not have to log into a program on the publisher's site to do my activities.

Please see the "Other Guests" forum for tips on setting up a (Free)DOS guest. The main thing you will of course need is a set of DOS floppies or floppy images (if genuine Microsoft DOS). See the FreeDOS site for how to install their version. Remember not to overspec the VM recipe. DOS wasn't designed to handle modern PC RAM and disk sizes. 1MB is enough RAM, 20MB is probably a large enough virtual disk. DOS had no standard graphics interface or driver model, so don't expect things to work generically like they do on a modern PC.
