VirtualBox / Win7_64 / Floppy drive

I am using (just beginning to use) VM on a PC running Win7_64.

I have successfully installed XP and so far everything is fine.

Except that VM doesn't recognize the physically existing 3.5" floppy drive. Under Win7 I can use the drive just fine, but VM doesn't seem to 'see' it.

Any idea?

Many thanks in advance

Use the "Storage" panel to add a floppy controller and floppy disk drive to the VM recipe (these items are not added by default). Thereafter use in a similar way to the virtual CD drive, i.e. associate with either a host physical drive on an uncompressed floppy image.

Thank you for your reply! Have added the controller, worked fine.

Still have problems to associate with the host physical drive though. I want to have the drive available and it should work whenever I insert a disk. The system however either forces me to select a certain floppy&folder (virtual floppy) or doesn't access a floppy if I leave the drive "empty" while associating it. If I then put a floppy into the drive, VM doesn't recognize it (the floppy, it does "see" the drive though).
Any further idea or hint?

Are you sure you associated the guests virtual drive with the correct physical host drive? Beyond that there's limited advice I can offer: none of my current PCs have floppy drives any more. At a push you can make images of your floppies and mount in the image instead, in fact that's usually preferred.
