Im try to implement a network with 2 virtual machines , one virtual machine have windows server 2012 installed with AD DS, DHCP and DNS service and the other machine have windows 8 , the idea is join the machine with windows 8 to the domain in the machine with WS2012 and then make test with group policies and other services.

How i can do, so they can be on the same network and respond to ping each other and then join de windows 8 machine to the domain in WS2012.

The easiest and for most the best way to use and test Windows domains in VirtualBox
Setup Windows Domain in VirtualBox

Ping may not be possible unless you enable ICMP in the guests.

Only if you want a gateway to the Internet. As is explained it is just another guest machine that emulates a router.

The actual configuration is outside the scope of this forum. I can assure you that using the configuration shown in the link works but it is up to you to know how and what to do to setup the network.

I find that using pFsense is the best for me and you need two network adapters in the pFsense guest. I use NAT on one and intnet for the one that connects to the domain for the other.

As Perry said, how you configure the network is a Windows networking question, not a VirtualBox question.

Windows XP is not a suitable client to run a NAT router. The only option it has is ICS, and that is really not suitable for Active Directory. If you can't run a Windows server as the router you are better of with an appliance like Pfsense, as Perry suggested.

You do not need a network connection for the domain network to join the client to the domain and test group policies. You can do that with an isolated network on an internal network. It works just like physical machines plugged into the same hub/switch. The network configuration is exactly the same.
