Adding host connectivity

I stood up a VM running Ubuntu 12.04 It was configured with one NIC in NAT mode... I had forgotten that NAT mode doesn't let me communicate with my VM. So I shut it down, added a second NIC in host mode, and restarted the VM. eth1 exists, but is not up and has no IP. I believe I did the same thing a while back with a VM running Fedora 18, and it "just worked"... I'm not sure if I've done something incorrectly with VirtualBox, or if there's config I need to do in the VM (this is the first time I've ever touched Ubuntu :-) ).

Most likely, you simply need to configure the interface to use DHCP in the guest. I don't remember if this is automatic post-install on Ubuntu.
