VirtualBox-4.2.16 Install Failure

Installed release 4.2.16-86992 and it crashes on startup. Previous release, prior to update was working just fine. Tried the repair function on a rerun of the program with same results. Running VB in Windows 8.
So if I uninstall it, will I loose everything that was installed or can I get the Win7 system I was running inside back without reinstalling it???

Please do a complete uninstall. Your VMs will not be harmed. After that, try to install 4.2.16 again. There might be an installer problem.

Ok, I uninstalled VB 4.2.16, restarted computer, re-installed VB 4.2.16 and got the following error

QUOTE
Failed to create the VirtualBox COM object.

The application will now terminate.

Do you install with admin priviledges?

Ok, I uninstalled 4.2.16, restarted machine, installed 4.2.16, with admin privileges (I normally do, but did the re-install just to make sure). Got the same error. So I un-installed 4.2.16, restarted, installed 4.2.14 (admin priv) and it worked just fine. So, did the normal update, started 4.2.16 (admin priv) and it went through the standard update process, this time I just got the VB screen and then a Windows error that said –

Oracle VM VirtualBox Manage has stopped working.
A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available.

So it appears that there is something between with 4.2.16 and Windows 8 (32)
Any thoughts? Can I forward any specific logs?

Uninstall 4.2.16
Reboot
Install 4.2.14
Reboot
Uninstall 4.2.14
Reboot
Install 4.2.16
Reboot

Rebooted (clean boot)
Installed 4.2.14
Uninstalled 4.2.14
Rebooted (clean boot)
Installed 4.2.16

Same problems..... no change.

Uninstalled 4.2.16
Installed 4.2.14

Waiting till next update after 4.2.16....

Well just attempted to install 4.2.18 and got the same results as I did with 4.2.16...... even uninstalled it and re-installed just to make sure... same error....

Any thoughts....... will leave this installed for a day or so but will have to go back to 4.2.14 if I get no solution.....

Had tried the 4.2.18 with no luck.

Good news is that 4.3.6 works just fine........
