256 bit color mode in Windows ME

I have a virtual machine all set up to run Windows ME, but when I try to play a game (in this particular case a series of Blair Witch survival horror games) I am informed I must have a 256 bit color mode selected to run them. When I go to the display screen in the control panel, the only choice available is 16 bit mode. Are there any downloads or patches available to add the availability of higher bit color modes such as 256 bit? Thanks.

Look in the tutorial area, there are some things for Windows 98/ME.

This is not supported by VBOX, so there are no guest additions.
