Microphone doesnt work on Linux Mint 15 OS Guest

Dear all:
I have VBox 4.2.12 with Win XP SP3 host OS and Linux Mint 15 as guest OS.
The external microphone (jack 3.5 mm audio input) doesnt work in the Guest OS. Do you have any suggestions?
