Large USB access very slow!

Post by Steve6375 »

I use VBox to boot from USB drives.
I have a variety of USB drives and I created a vmdk for them and then set the vmdk as the first boot device.
I have been doing this for years with no problem until now.
In the last few days I updated my version to ver 4.2.14 r86644
Now it boots from USB OK and runs grub4dos, but when grub4dos accesses the USB drive to enumerate files, there seems to be some sort of hang for about 60-90 seconds. The 2TB USB HDD I used worked fine last week and I have not changed it's contents. I am pretty sure that it is a VBox issue with the new version.
A FAT32 USB flash drive running the same grub4dos menu in same VM does not show the issue. Perhaps the large TB size is relevant here?
Another user has also reported exactly the same problem with his large 1.5TB USB HDD and grub4dos on Vbox just today.
Anyone else seeing problems?

Seems it only occurs when VT is disabled. It was always slower when VT is disabled, but it seems to pause at a particular place. 4.2.16 has same issue..
