I'm having an issue with my vm (launched via vagrant) crashing during ftp transfers (via lftp). The guest does not kernel panic, the vm simply disappears leading me to believe it's an issue with Virtualbox.
I'd like to produce a core dump, unfortunately the instructions on the coredump's don't seem to be working for me. OS X 10.8. VirtualBox 4.2.12.
I don't believe I'm setting ulimit in any of my configuration files:
> ulimit
unlimited
I'm trying to produce a core dump because the guests' syslog reveals nothing, nor do the virtualbox logs.
(As an aside, it would be helpful to specify whether the coredump instructions refer to the host or the guest.)

Please attach the VBox log as a zip file, we'll see if something is relevant or not.

You are using a saved state, did you try to discard it first?

Re: VM Crashes When Running LFTP Transfer
I believe so - I've shut-down and relaunched. I've also re-provisioned the vm from scratch.
This is all being done through vagrant - so unless vagrant is doing something behind the scenes, I'm not using snapshots (generally).

If you could try without using Vagrand, that would be best.

Re: VM Crashes When Running LFTP Transfer
Sure I can try that.
Also, how can I get some additional debug data produced? As mentioned, the ulimit command did not work. Am I looking for the logs in the correct location on the guest or the host?

Re: VM Crashes When Running LFTP Transfer
Extra debugging can best be achieved by using a debug build of VirtualBox (self compiled). That said it is extremely difficult to impossible to build it on a Mac host.
