I needed to reinstall VirtualBox and uninstalled it using the tool that comes with it and I moved the Virtual VM's folder to the trash and I clicked on the .pkg file again and it told me that a virtual machine was already running and to quit it and then try installation again. I have no idea what it's talking about. Any help would be appreciated!
Thanks
Ben

Re: Re-Installing VirtualBox
Looks like you didn't trash all the VirtualBox data folders - there are two. On my (non MAC) PC they are called ".VirtualBox" and "VirtualBox VMs". The former has the global xml, the latter has all the VMs. Depending on the age of your VMs, those may also be stored in the .VirtualBox folder.
Incidentally, there was never a need to throw away your existing VMs just to reinstall the software. The error message is just telling you to shut them down (e.g. don't just suspend them).

Re: Re-Installing VirtualBox
I need to reinstall Virtual Box. Reinstallation without deleting programme files and folders doesn't gain success.
I can't use the uninstall tool, which comes with VB bundle. However, VirtualBox uninstaller script shows:
The following files and directories (bundles) will be removed:
/usr/bin/VirtualBox
/usr/bin/VBoxManage
/usr/bin/VBoxVRDP
/usr/bin/VBoxHeadless
/usr/bin/vboxwebsrv
/usr/bin/VBoxBalloonCtrl
/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/vboxapi/VirtualBox_constants.py
/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/vboxapi/VirtualBox_constants.pyc
/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/vboxapi/__init__.py
/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/vboxapi/__init__.pyc
/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/vboxapi-1.0-py2.5.egg-info
/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/vboxapi/VirtualBox_constants.py
/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/vboxapi/VirtualBox_constants.pyc
/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/vboxapi/__init__.py
/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/vboxapi/__init__.pyc
/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/vboxapi-1.0-py2.6.egg-info

/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/vboxapi/
/Library/Python/2.6/site-packages/vboxapi/
/Library/Python/2.7/site-packages/vboxapi/
I have found the most files. But where can I find in Mac OS 10.7:
/usr/bin/VirtualBox
/usr/bin/VBoxManage
/usr/bin/VBoxVRDP
/usr/bin/VBoxHeadless
/usr/bin/vboxwebsrv
/usr/bin/VBoxBalloonCtrl ?

Why do you believe that the Uninstall tool is not usable?Vyacheslav wrote:I can't use the uninstall tool, which comes with VB bundle.
VirtualBox was designed under the Document model, just like MicroSoft Office.
That means that even though the program (Office/VirtualBox) is uninstalled, the documents remain.
You must manually and individually delete the documents (.doc and .vbox, .vdi./.vhd/.vmdk, etc.)

Thanks a lot! I've found the VB Uninstall tool does not work if there is no login password (password line is empty).

Re: Re-Installing VirtualBox
VirtualBox,like many other programs, expects that you will have a password for the security of your system.Vyacheslav wrote:I've found the VB Uninstall tool does not work if there is no login password (password line is empty).
