To Update or Not Update...That is the Question

Hello,
I have a 32 bit XP Home guest running well on a Windows 8 64 bit host using VBox previous version (4.2.12) with guest additions of same vintage. I see (and have gotten pop-up notice from VBOX) that there is an update version available. I've read the Change Log information and doesn't seem to address anything that impacts my current setup. My stupid newbie question is, "Should I go ahead and update to 4.2.14, or just stay with what is working exceptionally well?". My rationale for asking is simple, I see a number of posts here related to "problems" which may/may not be caused by the update. I'm concerned about doing something that might cause an unexpected problem during the upgrade process. Thanks!
