Major issue after 4.2.14 upgrage

Post by rk »

Can not start any of the Linux guests. Downgrade to prev version of Vbox brings them back

Win 7 64bit, 64b guests. Guests power off about a second after trying to start em up. Tried going with 1 CPU alloc'd to guest, disabling audio etc etc, no avail. It aborts so quickly I dont even get to Linux boot menu, something is very wrong.

Error message I get:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine Fedora19.

The version of the device registration structure is unknown to this VBox version. Either mixing incompatible versions or the structure isn't correctly initialized. (VERR_PDM_UNKNOWN_DEVREG_VERSION).

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}

And just to make sure, I recreated a guest anew, using an existing VDI and that one wouldn't boot either under 4.2.14.
Dies with the same eror.

Installing the matching extension pack seems to have fixed the issue !
