Virtualbox inside a VM Windows Server 2008

Post by mathieu1911 »

Hi,

I know it is not recommended neither supported to run vbox inside a VM. I need to do it anyway and I am asking if someone had this issue.

I'm running version 4.2.12 on a Windows Server 2008 host (datacenter edition). The host is running on a Xen environment. I "successfully" run a Windows 7 guest, but arround 25% of the time (it appears to be random), the host crash when the win7 guest is started. When it does, NOTHING is on the vm log and everything appears to be normal on windows system log.

My question is how can I debug it since logs are not showing any detail?

Thanks in advance, any help is mush appreciated.

I should have specified what "the host crash" means: I get kicked out from the remote desktop session and CPU usage is 100% indefinitely

It will never work properly. You do not get the full set of features the original host has, and why it is not supported.
