serial ports bi-directional don't work

hello everybody

My probleme is to communicate with bi-directional on serial port COM

My Version of virtualbox is : 4.2.4.r81684

Configuration Vm for Serial is :
  • Port umber COM1 IRQ/Port = default
    Port Mode = Host device
    Port/File path = COM4
hardware
1pc host whith vista (A) i use COM1
1pc host windows 8 (B) i use COM4

WM
1pc xp pro (C) i use COM1 on Window8 (B)

When i communicate
A ---> B Work
B ---> A Work
C ---> A Work
But
A ---> C don't work

Somebody have an idee thanks you

What baud rate / port speed did you configure?

Are you talking actual serial ports with crossover cables, or named pipes?

i used a crossover cables, between A and B

bits rate 9600
bits de donée 8
prité none
bits stop/arret 1
controle de flux none
on pc A B and C

There's so many things this could be: a badly made crossover cable, conflicting serial ports configurations, overly strict timeouts etc. It can also be latency in the VM: try setting 2 stop bits on the transmitter end, see if that helps at all. No need to set it on the receiving end.

i try 2 for the bit stop but i have the same issue

A to B -> Work
B to A -> Work
A to C -> don't work
C to A -> Work

Sorry, but I can't really add anything to what has been said above. Your configuration looks like it should work, I can't tell you why it doesn't. It could be a lot of things like I said, unfortunately I can't rule those other things out from here. We have had people successfully using virtual serial ports in the past, so VirtualBox shouldn't be the barrier, that said I can't think of any recent conversations about successful use. If you have it working fine in VMWare then I guess that's your solution.
