Re: Ubuntu 12 runs slow
Upload the log, the only log we are interested in is the one called "VBox.log", from the VM folder "Logs" subdirectory.
Zip the log file first, then you can attach it no problem.

Re: Ubuntu 12 runs slow
You should install the Guest Additions (see user manual chapter 4), as I've no doubt that will improve your experience. I suspect that your perception of poor performance is actually just slow graphics, which is one of the things the GAs will fix.
Other than that, well it looks like you have a Pentium T4200 dual core processor, which does not support VT-x. That processor was designed for low power moderate performance, not for speed.

Re: Ubuntu 12 runs slow
Well, the only other thing I notice is your 8GB hard disk (I assume that's what "8GB ROM" meant in your first post: in fact ROM means Read Only Memory and can't refer to a hard disk). 8GB is somewhat small for a modern OS, I typically make them 32GB minimum. A disk that's too small will typically be congested, the swap file might be undersized too. See Howto: Resize a Virtual Drive.
And I can only repeat what I said earlier: if you have a slow host then you can't expect a VM to run very fast.

Re: Ubuntu 12 runs slow
Thanks. I have completed step 1. I have added more volume to "ubuntu1.vid" (20480 MB). I opened windows 7 disk manager and it does not show that I even have a partition on my main HD. Ubuntu is still runninng slow in virtual box. I noticed that whenever I start ubuntu I get a message saying "The system detected some problems". I chose the option to report the problems this time. The problem is found in the path "/usr/bin/Xorg" Thanks.

@oladitan,
From the guest terminal post the results of the following:
You will need to install mesa-utils if it is not already installed.

Shut the guest down (not saved state) and in the guest settings display, enable 3D and start the guest. Post the results of the previous command.

I have enabled 3D acceleration in the guest settings. I have started the machine. It is still going slow and the window is halfway off the monitor.

Re: Ubuntu 12 runs slow
But what does the command I sent you say with 3D enabled?
Re: Ubuntu 12 runs slow
I was unable to open the terminal because I cannot see the menus. The whole screen is shifted the the left, off the monitor.
I have changed the ammout of video memory from 12MB to 128 MB. This caused the machine to crash.

Re: Ubuntu 12 runs slow
32MB is more than enough memory.
Press the host key and the F key at the same time. This is the full screen toggle. Does it go in and out of full screen? You can also use the left ctrl+alt+T to open the terminal.
