Hi all,

I would like to set up an Ubuntu VM and then make multiple copies that I can have running at the same time.

I assume that I should clone the original (refresh mac addys) then rename the clones?

Is there any issue with this?

Sounds about right, but if you use the main manager clone feature you can rename them then, as well as select to re-initialise the Mac address.
One thing that will cause you a small problem unless you take core of it before you clone is the Mac change feature of Linux where it changes the eth* to the next higher number and has been known to cause issues until fixed.

You will need to edit the /etc/udev/rules.d/70-persistent-net.rules or you can delete the rules and Linux will configure it on the next boot

You can delete the file on the original and shut down the guest then clone all that you need, which should work around this feature.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I originally wasn't going to post this Q, thinking I had it figured out. Good thing I did post it, since I would never have predicted the ETH issue you mentioned.
