ubuntu - terminal scrolling does not work

Hi

I am using the ubuntu server 12 guest on windows host. (the terminal only version)

How can i scroll the long output in the terminal?

Most of the time i follw the commands with pipe less ( | less )

But is some cases it is not enough and I just need to scroll the output.
I read the Shift + Page up should work but in my case it does not.

AFAIK the only way to increase the scrollback buffer size in tty is to change the configuration and recompile the kernel. I would ask the Ubuntu forums this question though as it has nothing to do with VirtualBox.
