Guest additions kernel headers are not building [SOLVED]

Post by Jumper11550 »

I've gone over preparing the OS and installing the GA multiple times

This is a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04 LTS as a guest on Virtual Box 4.1.4 with a Windows 7 host.

I'm really at my wits end here as what to do next, I really want the shared clipboard and the mounted shared folder the GA has provided with previous VMs in the past.

If this particular issues has been answered before just tell me and I'll do more digging, or if you're a real generous soul please link me to it. However I've not been able to find anything that addresses the kernel headers problem.

Thanks!!

You need a newer version of VirtualBox where this has been fixed.
I would suggest 4.2.10

Okay thank you,

Although it is slightly puzzling as to why there is an issue as I have two other VMs with this version of virtualbox that the guest additions installed just fine on and hum along swimmingly.

To be clear it was a kernel bug that the distros introduced and the version of VirtualBox I sent you has a (work around) fix.
