Commodore OS Vision-guest additions

Post by smaster1755 »

I installed Vbox Guest additions on my Commodore OS VM, and now when I boot it up, there are no icons, no dock, just the home screen background. How can I fix this?

I think there are not many people using this.

Why not using a Standard Distro like Ubuntu or OpenSuSE?

because its very interesting experimenting with an OS made by the amazing people who made the Commodore 64.

From what I read commodore vision it is just a copy of Mint and that is a copy of Ubuntu which is a copy of Debian.
Guest additions should work but you would need to ask the CV people why it is not.

If the base was from Ubuntu 12.* the the guest additions my have a regression and you would need to install the following guest additions instead.

"Vision" was a heavily modified version of Linux Mint and the last time a beta was released was in July of 2012. CommodoreUSA seems to no longer exist so no more Vision. The problem is they used their own effects perhaps based on Compiz although from the videos I saw in the past with spinning windows etc, maybe not. If your VM was working in the past with a previous version of the guest additions installed then you need to remove the ones you just installed and revert back to those. But Vision is dead in the water.
