Can I decrease assigned memory without opening VM?
I created VMs for IE7-IE10 by using a terminal command which I got from xdissent (can't post link since I'm a noob). It seems to have worked well, but unfortunately they were created with way too much working memory assigned and I can't even open them to change the setting because my computer freezes up! Is there any way to change the assigned memory without starting the VMs? Or is there some other way I can fix this issue?

Re: Can I decrease assigned memory without opening VM?
thanks! I tried: VBoxManage modifyvm "IE6 - WinXP" --memory "1GB"
And got an error:
VBoxManage: error:
So I tried: VBoxManage modifyvm "IE6 - WinXP" --memory <1GB>
And got another error:
-bash: syntax error near unexpected token `newline'
Silver:~ macpro$
And got an error:

Re: Can I decrease assigned memory without opening VM?
Okay, I'm sorry, I feel like an idiot but I tried:
VBoxManage modifyvm "IE6 - WinXP" --memory <1000MB>
VBoxManage modifyvm "IE6 - WinXP" --memory "1000MB"
VBoxManage modifyvm <IE6 - WinXP> --memory <1000MB>
And none of them worked. Could someone please hold my hand and give me the exact text I should enter?

Re: Can I decrease assigned memory without opening VM?
Try without the MB or the <>
Code: Select all
VBoxManage modifyvm "IE6 - WinXP" --memory 1000-

Re: Can I decrease assigned memory without opening VM?
Thank you!!! I think it worked, at least I didn't get an error message. I didn't get a confirmation either, so I'll just try and open the VM again and see what happens.
