Hi all,
In many cases weird network behavior and the dreaded "Red X" on many Win hosts can be resolved with a registry hack. The key is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SYSTEM/CurrentControlSet/Control/Network and the entry is Config (a
binary).
Try this: Open Regedit, backup the whole key then go down and delete the Config entry. Now
reboot and see what happens. The entry should be regenerated reflecting the new
configuration. This is yet another case of where Windoze isn't smart enough to detect a
corrupt key but will often regenerate a missing one correctly. Always backup the registry
before you mess with it or create a restore point first just in case.
Regards,
Pro

Your topic has nothing to do with Virtualbox whatsoever. Guest OS configuration is also out of scope of the forum.
Unless you complete your post with proper details & context, I am encline to remove this topic.

Evidently some of us are incapable of reading. The name of this thread is "Virtual Box on Windows Hosts". My message was in re to many people have problems with VBox messing up the network setup on the host machine and is entirely appropriate, at least to those God gave the sense of a hummingbird.
