I have an Ubuntu 10.04 host system, with 2x500G HDs ad 16G of RAM,

I installed the VirtualBox 4.2.12 for the U 10.04 host system, (by hand ".deb install" ; and using the Ubuntu SW center)
I tried to create a VM's with anywhere from 4-40G, with anywhere from default to 10G RAM, using the 12.04LTE, both in a install CD and downloaded .iso on the local host drivespace, I have done this about a dozen times,and it fails everytime.
I consistantly get the following error.

I have the same setup on a WIN7 host with no problems.

I just tried to create another VM with a fixed size of 20G, and I get a different error.

You need to find out where your Guest files are being stored. The error is specific and it means exactly what it says. DISK_FULL

I think I solved the problem, the directory where the vdi's are stored has a limited size because that space is mirrored across the networked to all Linux boxes I log in to. when I move that space to the local system the problem goes away.

For reference, for others select on the Manager: File>preferences; then in the "default Machine Folder" change the directory you are using.
