Hello,
I would like to ask you, if it's posibble to run 64bit guest OS on 64bit CPU, with 64bit host OS. The only problem is, that the CPU doesn't have HW virtualization. According to manual it doesn't matter if CPU has it or no (On 64-bit hosts (which typically come with hardware virtualization support), 64-bit guest operating systems are always supported regardless of settings, so you can simply install a 64-bit operating system in the guest. Manual, Chapter 3 - 64-bit guests).
I tried many times many things but without success. I'm only trying to run x64 OS (Ubuntu) as guest, with only one CPU.
The host OS is Ubuntu 13.04 x64, VBox is 4.2.12 (the latest release now).
Thank you for any advice

Reading Chapter 10 of Virtualbox :
Could you attach as zip the VM log file with the error please - see Minimum information needed for assistance.
But if I read the part of the manual you are quoting, it is indeed confusing - one could believe it is not required if you're on 64 bits hosts.Even though VirtualBox does not always require hardware virtualization, enabling it is required in the following scenarios:
VirtualBox's 64-bit guest support and multiprocessing both require hardware virtualization to be enabled.

Re: 64bit guest without HW virtualization
The quote given is taken out of context, and has to do with whether 64bit templates will be listed or not when creating a VM. For actually running a 64bit VM, VT-x is required.

Hello,
thank you for your explanation. Sorry for my mistake but term "is supported" sounds to me that I can suppose it'll be functional.
Thaks to all for their time trying to help me
