Questions about network lab including hosts acting as router

Hey.

I've wasted alot of hours trying to figure this one out and i just can't seem to get it to work no matter what.
For a school project I'am trying to ping from one client on 1 subnet through it's gateway router through another router to a client on a different subnet.

I Made 2 x 2K8 servers and installed RRAS on both.

SERVER1
----------
LAN1: 10.0.0.1
MASK: 255.255.255.0

LAN2: 10.0.1.1
MASK: 255.255.255.0
-----------

SERVER2
-----------
LAN1: 10.0.0.2
MASK: 255.255.255.0

LAN2: 10.0.2.1
MASK: 255.255.255.0
------------

I further allow each server to respond to ICMP requests.

Then i made 2 XP clients:

CLIENT1
-----------
LAN:10.0.1.5
MASK: 255.255.255.0
GW:10.0.1.1
----------

CLIENT2
----------
LAN: 10.0.2.5
MASK:255.255.255.0
GW:10.0.2.1
---------

By the way i made 2 different internal network for each of the interfaces on the servers..this is the right thing to do right?

Anyway i play around alot with the routings and i managed to ping from SERVER to SERVER and SERVER to both CLIENTS. only thing i couldn't do was ping from CLIENT to CLIENT no matter what i tried.

I have now deleted all static routes untill i get an explenation to how to set them up right.

To answer the Virtualbox part of your issue, you require 3 internal networks :
- Server 1 LAN1 & Server 2 LAN1
- Server 1 LAN2 & clients on 10.0.1.0/24
- Server 2 LAN2 & clients on 10.0.2.0/24

The rest is pure networking config and not in scope of this forum.
You will require DHCP on each of your servers, or static IP on your clients.
Don't forget to disable all firewalling.
