Removing a virtual machine

So deleting a virtual machine is easy enough, just click remove...but I'm not getting any memory back on my host. I have 3 windows machines through virtualbox on my macbook pro and each has around 20-25GB dedicated to them. I want to free up around 20GB for my macbook pro by deleting one of these machines, but just removing the machine doesn't give me any memory back. I've even tried uninstalling virtualbox and I still don't have that memory. Please help! Thank you very much.

if you do a Google search for "missing space on SSD drives'' you will find many links explaining what is going on.

So I did a Google search and (after some digging) I was led to some VM files that had not been deleted that were quite large (15GB, 16GB, and 20GB). So I was able to get my memory back. Thank you very much

you're welcome. if you have Time Machine enabled it will create backups on your drive so you may want to consider turning it off and backing up manually.
