Cant share folder between host and winpe

I am having difficulty trying to share a folder on host vista and Winpe in virtualbox .
when I run net use nothing is located.
when I run ipconfig I get whats on the sceenshot, I can't install guest additions since this is not a Windows system but a CD booted winpe system.
I have changed network card from NAT to bridged and same problem.

Any suggestions would help.

What is your question? If it's how to get the GAs shared folder feature to work without the GAs, well that's obviously impossible. Network shared folders do work, if you configure them correctly, but that's nothing to do with VirtualBox really, once you've chosen an appropriate network mode - and you haven't mentioned what mode you chose, so I can't comment on that.

I cant share using GA so I want to share without it.
somehow I want to connect winpe to my host as if it was on a network ,map network drive in winpe to my vista host.
This is for labbing for a microsoft exam and I was hoping this would work to get network sharing experience using winpe.

Should work. Set the guest to use host-only and then the host and guest will be able to communicate of the 192.168.56.* address range ( the host will be .1 )

One thing: this will be a true network connection, so you will not see your entire host system. All you will see are the folders which the host marks as shareable... and I suggest you don't share the host's root folder. Better to start by sharing one host folder, and only put things in it that the VM must have. Other than that your goal should be easy enough to achieve.

Thanks for the replies do I have to make a fixed ip in Winpe?
because if I just change to host-only network it still does not see my shared files ,I am a bit new to this virtualbox networking.
If I boot into windows 7 guest I can only share with the GA, I don't know how to share without the GA.even though they are on the same workgroup.

As an update I've managed to share between host Vista and windows 7 by using the host only adapter network method without GA as though they where physically two computers.
Now I just need to solve my main problem to share folder with vista and winpe , I am learning as I go now lol

If you mean via the GA, it most likely won't work. WinPE is a very minimal Windows and does not contain a Windows system per-say. And is not at all supported by GA.

If you aren't using the GAs then its the same as sharing folders between two physical PCs on a common network, I'm sure Google can help you out with that. It's actually very easy, in fact I outlined the first step above, after which it's just a matter of browsing to the folder in the guests network neighborhood, mapping to a drive letter if you want.

I have got it running now in winpe I had to use net use letter: \\server\share * /user:username ,http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/libr ... 90717.aspx
and it connected like I hoped.
