Adapter Type

Post by philtrev »

I use a Dell Wireless 1505 draft 802.11n WLAN Mini-Card. What adapter type should I select? I currently have it set to Intel Pro/1000 MT Desktop (8254OEM)as a bridged adapter with Promiscuous mode: Deny.

The problem I seem to be having is I'm getting even log errors related to this card which is giving me the following error:
Intel(R) PRO/1000 MT Desktop Adapter is set up for auto-negotiation but the link partner is not configured for auto-negotiation. A duplex mismatch may occur.

Any, virtio is supposed to be the most efficient (but might not be because of a known issue), next are the Intel, then the PCNET. So Intel is the good choice.

Wifi bridging is known to cause serveral kind of issues, due to the inherent Wifi architecture and how the low layers behave in a Wifi link (which is essentially a P2P connection).
Could you try with an actual cabled connection and see if you get the same error in your even log?

I'll have to buy a long Ethernet cable because of the distance from the router but it's worth trying. I'll let you know if it makes a difference once it's hooked up.
