Hello all.

I have installed Windows 8 as a host OS, last version of Virtual box and its extenstion package and Fedora 18 64-bit as a guest OS.
The laptop I Installed all of them has one USB 2 port and two USB 3 ports.

When I attached any device at the USB 2 port, Fedora 18 can access it propely via Virtual Box.
However, when I attached any device at USB 3 port, Fedora 18 can not access it at all via Virtual Box.

Is any way to access USB 3 ports via Virtual Box?

Reagrds,

VirtualBox does not support USB 3 at this time.

I believe you can still create a USB filter and check USB 2. It won't run at USB 3 speeds but it should work. If you are trying to use external drives you could create a shared folder of the drive.

Yes, if it is an external hard drive I can see it as a shared folder.
However, if it is a device such as a smart card reader?

I tried to create a filter as you suggested. Although the VB can see it , there is still the exception("Failed to attached USB device....") when you try to access it from Devices->USB.

I'm afraid you will have to wait for a response from someone else. I don't create USB filters or use external devices other than hard drives.

Most of the time it doesn't - we get quite a few topics about that very problem.
Avoid USB3 ports alltogether.
