Problem to run Windows after install successfully VirtualBox

Post by segovax »

Hi,

My problem is as follows. I got to install VirtuallBox in my Windows 7 64 bits machine without any problem. I also got to create a virtual Ubuntu through VirtualBox, and I use it to load the specific virtual machine I need. The problems come when I shutdown my computer and try to turn on it again. In this moment, my Windows couldn't start properly, before he get it, it appears a blue screen and restart my computer again (and so on). Then, to solve this problem, I had to restore my system in a point before the installation of VirtualBox (so the origin of the problem is the installation of VirtualBox). This has happened to me twice, with two different version of VirtualBox. I hope someone can tell me what happens here. Thanks a lot and forgive due my english expresion (I am spanish ^^).

I'm not aware of any problem in VirtualBox which can prevent a host boot. The only VirtualBox software which runs at that moment is network drivers. So, you could try disabling the VirtualBox Host-Only Ethernet Adapter (after a VBox install) and see if that does indeed allow your host to boot.

If that does not work then the effect may be indirect. E.g. perhaps the VM uses disk space and the host crashes when its disk space usage is deflected onto a problem part of the disk. In which case a disk check might tell you something.

To progress further with this we would need to know the full error message which appears on the host blue screen.

Also, a VM log file would be useful. See Minimum information needed for assistance.

Hi,

Finally, the problem is fixed. The solution was not to choose the option the "Virtual Box Host - Only Network" just in the moment of the installation.

Thanks for your answer !
