Problems Running On Windows 7 64 Bit w/ XP

Hello,

I have a windows 7 64 Bit machine and I installed the latest version of Virtual Box so I could install XP 32 Bit on the system. All install was fine, but I have a specific piece of software that needs XP to run, so when I start the Virtual Box with XP, the software does not seem to run. I get the same error as if I was to run in on the Windows 7 64 Bit machine directly. Did I mis something on the install that would make the Virtual Box XP run as if it was a XP machine? Some how, it is still thinking it is on a 64 Bit machine?

Thanks JR

Hard to say without knowing what the program is and the error message you are receiving. You also should post the guests log file (as an attachment)

Hello,

Thank you for the reply. It is a Canon remote capture program from my digital camera. The error is that it does not see the camera. Says "Camera error:
Check the lens cover and the cable connecting, then reconnect.". I have the software installed on a Windows XP laptop, and as soon as you plug the camera in it sees the camera.

Thanks JR

Sorry, not sure what is meant by guest log file.

Accessing physical hardware is not the forte of a simulated PC, but it's possible that what you tried may work, e.g. if it uses USB. I suggest that you read the user manual Chapter 3 "USB Support". Also install the guest additions.

Also see Minimum information needed for assistance to provide the log file Perry asked for, if adding a USB filter doesn't fix your problem.
