Cannot access shared folders

Post by Andrew Brehm »

I cannot access the two shared folders I defined in the VM settings.

They appear nowhere in the network but show up in

/media/

as, one of them named "root"

/media/sf_root/

However, the subdirectories of /media are accessible for root only and I am not logged in as root.

This happens independently of whether they are configured for auto-mount or not.

How can I access my shared folders?

sounds like you need to add your user name to the vboxsf group in your guest.
OSX, Linux and Windows Hosts & Guests
There are three groups of people. Those that can count and those that can't.
