Hi guys,
I have an MSDN disc that has Windows 7 and Windows Server on it, but it is a disc with executable files, not boot files.
Is there any way to create a VM using the Windows 7 installer from this disc?
Thanks!

Re: Install Windows 7 from MSDN disc
What do the fine folks at MSDN have to say about it?

Re: Install Windows 7 from MSDN disc
I have never seen an MSDN disc with executable files on it, apart from Service Pack install discs (which contain just the SP as an executable, not an OS). Multiple systems on one disc are usually ISO files.

Re: Install Windows 7 from MSDN disc
Well, back when I thought that a full (as opposed to library only) MSDN subscription was worthwhile, it did come with a big pack of CDs containing different operating systems. However those were ordinary install CDs that you used just like retail versions. That doesn't sound like whatever the OP is referring to. @pzula, I think you need to double check that you really have operating systems there, and not service packs or similar.
Of course it's a lot of years since I decided that MSDN was overpriced for what it gave me. For all I know they provide their test OS's as VMs now, in which case it's possible those are self unpacking exe's containing a VHD. In which case you would unpack them and build a VM around the VHD.

Did you ever get an answer on using your disc to install? I have the same situation.pzula wrote:Hi guys,
