VB on mixed usb 3.0/2.0 systems

Post by ls »

I am using a laptop with 2 sets of USB ports: one USB 3.0 and 2 USB 2.0 on separate USB controllers. Unless I am mistaken, VB does not support USB 3.0 yet. So is there a way to make VB ignore the USB 3.0 controller completely so I can use the USB 2.0 ports for legacy equipments that only work in win XP. Downgrading my USB 3.0 to USB 2.0 is not an option since I use it for new faster USB 3.0 external HDD.

According to past reports here, if you use a USB 2.0 host port then it works. I can't test it myself because my host has no USB 3.0 ports.

Thank you for your answer! I'd hope this would be the case for my laptop but ccording to my tests so far the mere presence of the USB 3.0 port is enough to block all ports. Maybe the ports are not on separate controllers after all. I have to investigate further...
