VirtualBox 4.2.12 on Windows 8 Host installing CentOS 6.4 64-bit. Windows 8 Host is a 4 core i7 with 16GB of memory. Guest is set at 1 vCPU and 2GB of memory, 8GB drive.

Successfully installed the Extension Pack Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-4.2.12-84980, which enabled USB 2.0.

When installing a 64-bit Linux guest (both CentOS and Ubuntu behave the same) the guest install hangs after/during USB device enumeration. When attaching/detaching USB devices, the install progresses to acknowledge the device change, but then stops again.

Last segment of the log file:

At this point, the VM makes no progress but is consuming CPU on the host equivalent to a full core, so it appears to be looping on something. Any explanation of what his happening, and how it could be sidestepped?
