Hi,
Having here a MS Studio webcam (usb) in my Win7 host working fine but as soon as I boot my VB Vista guest the cam light comes on even I have no use for it in Vista (no cam software installed)

How can I deactivate the cam?

Do you have a USB filter setup for your guest?

no idea what that is!

.. the cam is new that's why I hit this "problem"

This is what I see:

remove the < > in the VM name, it was only there to show it was to be replace. Also, if your VM contains space or special characters, enclose it with quotes " "

If you plug a USB device into physical port on your host (and it's hard to imagine where else you would plug it...) then your host naturally detects and uses that device. If you want a VM to use that device then you need to configure a filter in VM settings | USB which intercepts messages from this device and sends them to the VM instead of letting the host process them.

Configuration of the USB area of the VM settings is discussed in the user manual, section 3.10. On Windows hosts this involves the installation of a USB filter driver, which you must allow (and must have user privileges to allow) before the guest will be able to use that USB device. That takes care of the USB side - in the case of a webcam you also probably need to install webcam drivers in the guest.

Attached the output and, btw, I don't need the webcam in the VM.
In Win7 the cam only comes on when the cam software is running otherwise it will stay dark (not lit)
