OS Install Fails on Virtual Machines
OS Install Fails on Virtual Machines
I have installed VM VirtualBox Manager on my Win 7 laptop. I have a few Virtual Machines. The problem is that I get an error message when I try to install the OS on the VMs. The installation starts to go and then I get the following error: Windows could not retrieve information about the disks on this computer Thank you in advance for any help you may give me

Re: OS Install Fails on Virtual Machines
Just starting the install and receiving an error means there was a log file created. Post the log file as an attachment.
(right click on the guest and click on show log, save and post as an attachment.)

VirtualBox VM 4.2.10 r84104 win.amd64 (Mar 15 2013 19:08:54) release log
Oracle VM VirtualBox Extension Pack (Version: 4.2.12 r84980; VRDE Module: VBoxVRDP)
This will not do at all. You must have the extension pack and the version of VBox to be the same. Also there was an issue with the r84104 release with corrupt guest additions.
I would upgrade to the 4.2.12 version of VirtualBox and see if that solves you problem,

Re: OS Install Fails on Virtual Machines
Thanks for the reply. I uninstalled the other version, rebooted and installed 4.2.12 and then installed the binaries.
I created a new VM and tried to install the OS again and received the same error. Here is the log. I appreciate
the help. I have attached the latest log. Thank you.

Re: OS Install Fails on Virtual Machines
Please state clearly what guest(s) you are trying to install. E.g. if the latter is a 64bit Windows VM then I suspect that it may need more than 512MB to run properly.
Re: OS Install Fails on Virtual Machines
Thanks for all the help. Increasing the memory solved the problem
