Bluetooth USB Dongle on VirtualBox 4.2.10 - not working

Post by Brian_W »

I have VirtualBox 4.2.10 on Windows 7 64bit on an Asus laptop. I have a Broadcom Bluetooth USB Adapter and Fedora Linux 18 as the guest. The Broadcom adapter will not work with VirtualBox. It will generate the following error:
VirtualBox USB error.png
VirtualBox USB error.png (30.87 KiB) Viewed 1518 times

Code: Select all

Result Code:
E_INVALIDARG (0x80070057)
Component:
HostUSBDevice
Interface:
IHostUSBDevice {173b4b44-d268-4334-a00d-b6521c9a740a}
Callee:
IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}
I shut off the Bluetooth services in Windows and removed the Bluetooth USB dongle. I then created a blank USB filter, started Fedora 18 in VirtualBox and then plugged in the USB dongle. I still get the same error.
I've not found anything on Google or here that would explain why this happens. I do have the dongle detected by VirtualBox itself but I get the error when I select it from the menu.

Any hints or tips?

Several things here :
1. The "busy with previous request" has been discussed at length on this forum, so I am sure you already looked up the exact step by step on how to do it.
2. ensure you are not using a USB3 port - these are not supported by virtualbox.
3. Did you search the bugtracker for specifics to bluetooth devices?
