Failed to attach the USB device (device)

Post by n8ouz »

Hello,
I get:

"Failed to attach the USB device (device) to the virtual machine (my windows 7 vm).
USB Device "(device)" with UUID (blah) is in use by someone else."

Details :
Result Code: NS_ERROR_FAILURE (0x80004005)
Component: HostUSBDevice
Interface: IHostUSBDevice {blah=}
"

This is a device that used to work and abruptly stopped working, giving this message when I plug it in.

I've gone into the settings, set up filters, tried removing them, adding the device manually once it connects to mac, etc.. no change. It just stopped working about a month ago and hasn't worked since.

The workaround I am using is that I imported the VM into VMWare Fusion, booted it up, plugged in my device, and was able to run the config program and program my device, and go on my merry way. But for some reason, the machine (originally built in VirtualBox) can't be fed the USB device from VirtualBox for some reason because of this error, and I can't figure it out..

Thanks-
