Wrong sysdate after restoring from snapshot

Post by waldorfm »

Host System: Mac OS X 10.6.8 (64-bit kernel mode), Mac Pro 4.1
VirtualBox 4.2.10
Guest System: Oracle Linux 6.4 (x64)

After restoring a snapshot that is 26 days old, the system date command shows March 15, instead of April 10. I do not have any guest additions installed and this is a snapshot from right after the initial standard server install.

If I restart the guest system using "shutdown -r now", the VM system date still remains at March 15, which was 26 days ago.

It seems the only way to correct the date is to shutdown the VM using "shutdown -h now" command, then after startup, the date is fine, showing April 10.

I don't think I have noticed this before, so I wonder if this is the way it was meant to be.

Thanks.
