Using a VM for remote access

Hi everybody I'm looking for some advice on using a VM mainly to ssh into my work computers.
Some background:
I am a computational chemist and I travel a lot so I often remotely access my comp chem lab using my virtual machine. I use the VM rather then just using PuTTY because I need to use some modeling software so my ubutu VM lets me execute the -X command. If anyone has any experience I am curious is there anything I can do to make it run better allocating more RAM otherwise or if there is a better dist. I can use to get everything to run more smoothly.

Thanks.

It's hard to say without knowing what you have for the settings now, or what the PC resources are.

From the hosts terminal/command window type VBoxManage showvminfo <VM Name> --details and post here. Replace <VM Name> with the actual name of the VM. Use " " if the name has a space in it.

Note if the host is Windows you need to be in the directory that has VBoxManage.exe for the command to work.

Also

Post the guests log file (as an attachment)
See Online Users Manual for the location of the file.

Note: moved to using VirtualBox since suggestions are not the proper place.
