First Start Wizard not launching

I am running the free version of VirtualBox (4.2.10 r84104) on Windows 8. I had no trouble building a VM. I created a disk drive manually using the standard vdi format. My problem is when I start the VM, I am not seeing the First Start Wizard specified in the documentation, and so far, have not found any instructions for manually installing my OS. So I either need to get the wizard to launch or find some instructions for manually installing my OS.

If you manually change any of the default settings VBox will assume you do not need the first run wizard. Just go to the settings and in the storage settings mount the install CD/ISO to the virtual CD drive.
