KDE 4.10 panel color wrong VirtualBox 4.2.14

I've been using KDE 4.9.5 as a guest in VirtualBox 4.1.24 with no display problems. I have all desktop effects disabled. Recently I updated KDE to 4.10.2 in multiple guest VMs on different computers. All the guests have a similar problem. The KDE panel displays as solid white or solid black, when it should be a silver color. Resizing the guest window will sometimes make the color appear correctly for a short period of time.
The guest VMs are running Slackware 14 (32-bit or 64-bit) with KDE 4.10.1 or 4.10.2. I have the display set to 64MB RAM with 2D and 3D acceleration disabled. Desktop effects for KDE are disabled. I have installed VirtualBox Guest Additions 4.1.24 on all the machines.
The problem happens on different host operating systems including Windows 7, Windows XP, and Slackware 14 (32 and 64-bit). I've tested on two different host computers.
When I run KDE 4.10 on either host computer as a host OS, I don't have the problem with the panel. It displays the correct color. This seems to be a problem with the VirtualBox Guest Additions display driver.
Does anyone have suggestions for a work around? Will updating to VirtualBox 4.2 fix this problem?
