Dynamically allocated storage refuses to expand (Fedora 18)

Hi, I've recently installed Fedora 18 on a VM drive with dynamically allocated storage, which maximum size I'd declared to be 8gb. Current actual size is 3.47gb and whenever I try to allocate a file it says that I've run out of disk space. I assume that the feature of dynamic allocation should be activated automatically but it doesn't.

What might be wrong with my setup? Thanks.

PS:

VirtualBox version: 4.1.12 Ubuntu r77245
Host OS: Ubuntu 12.10 x64
Guest OS: Fedora 18 x64

There is nothing wrong with the dynamic allocation feature, and yes, it is automatic.

The guest error means that your virtual hdd is divided into partitions, and the guest partition you are trying to use is full to capacity. Dynamic host space allocation does not change the capacity of any guest partition or disk, it only changes when that capacity is allocated. You should back up the VDI file before attempting to resize the disk (and the partition), and remember that you cannot resize the disk if you used snapshots.
