Cant Update Guest Additions
Posted: 4. Apr 2013, 20:46
Hello friends,
Have been using virtual box for sometime now, but today I faced a wiered problem. I'll try to explain.
I have a separate partition to store virtual machines, so I dont have to reinstall all the virtual machines.
After installing Windows 8 (host), installed new virtual box 4.2.10 and got a message in RHEL (guest) to update the guest additions.
And when I click install guest additions (host+d), I expect the guest additions cd to be mounted and an autorun prompt as I got them earlier, but nothing this time.
Googled and tried as much as I can but I cant get the guest additions mounted. could not find anything on this forum, there are threads but they say to use autorun when clicked install guest additions.
Although there was a suggestion on a forum to recompile the kernels so the installation of guest addition wont be required,
recompiled successfully, but still get notification to update the guest additions
But I still want to know what is the problem and more desperately the solution.
Thanks
