4.2.10 will no longer allow start using Bridged Networking.

Post by mikeperu »

I just upgraded to 4.2.10 and all my VM's that were using Bridged networking now fail.
they worked on 4.2.8. The interfaces is selectable and i can change them to NAT and they work fine, but if i put back to bridge
they fail.. I need the bridging to work.. any ideas?

here is one example of the error:

Failed to open a session for the virtual machine VM Stanalone.

Failed to open/create the internal network 'HostInterfaceNetworking-Broadcom NetXtreme 57xx Gigabit Controller' (VERR_SUPDRV_COMPONENT_NOT_FOUND).

Result Code: E_FAIL (0x80004005)
Component: Console
Interface: IConsole {db7ab4ca-2a3f-4183-9243-c1208da92392}

The error message seems to be saying that you failed to install the bridged networking component when you updated VirtualBox. Perhaps you failed to run the installer as administrator, hence none of the driver type components got installed.

I'm a newbie on this product but I'm running into the same issue on Win7 Pro using VBox v4.2.10 r84104 - I'll see if I can find a copy of 4.2.8 and try it........

Installed 4.2.8 - same result - cant get bridged network working on any interface. NIC Status Properties shows VirtualBox Bridged Networking Driver on the connection.
Also shows McAfee NDIS Intermediate Filter on the connection - I wonder if my security software is messing up the Bridge...??

Very possible. Disable any antiviru, firewall & co, uninstall, reinstall, reboot, try again.

OK - I got a 4.2.10 bridged network created on my sons Win 7 Home Premium system.

I made a few comparisons -
On the Network Connection/Properties/Sharing tab the Win7HP shows Internet Connection Sharing unchecked and Allow other users to control or disable the shared Internet connection checked but greyed out....
On this tab on my Win7Pro PC - shows Internet Connection Sharing has been disabled by the Network Administrator ......
