Hi,

previously under windows 7 x64 i use VB 4.1 and i created several vmdk files and now since VB4.2.10 i'm not able to import them to new version but only create them... what's wrong ?

If you are referring to the global media registry of VirtualBox v3.x - that no longer exists.

Today, each VM has its own local media registry, therefore media must be added to a specific VM. If you want to use an existing virtual media file then create a VM first, and select the existing media when you get to the disk creation step.
